Business rules

Please note!

When is it Used?

Use a Linked Asset Type when Sub Asset Types are configured for an Asset Type and the lowest level of Sub Asset Types in the Asset Type Tree hierarchy is the level at which the Asset Type must be linked in the Asset Type Tree.

- Example -

The “MOTOR” Asset Type has 2 Sub Asset Types; “AC MOTOR” and “DC MOTOR”. Either of the Sub Asset Types can be selected as a Linked Asset Type for an Asset Type Placeholder in the Asset Type Tree

Add an Asset Type Placeholder called “MOTOR ATP” in the Asset Type Tree, and select the “MOTOR” Asset Type for the Asset Type Placeholder.

An inherited “MOTOR ATP” Asset Type Placeholder becomes a Linked Asset Type when the Linked Asset Type is specified.

  • the “MOTOR” Asset Type is the Asset Type Placeholder

  • the “AC MOTOR” or “DC MOTOR” Asset Type is the Linked Asset Type.
