Definition
An inherited item’s properties can be changed. For example, an Asset's description can be changed to more accurately describe the physical Asset.
Example
In this example, the description of the “Casing” for “Motor 1” could be changed to “Stainless Steel Casing”.

How to... Change an inherited item’s properties
1. Change the inherited item’s Development Status from “Confirmed” to “Modified - Under Development”.
The Development Status for all items inherited from the originating item are also updated to ‘Modified - Under Development’.
2. Tick the Apply to Children and Apply to Descendants (and Descendants via Linked Objects) checkboxes.
3. As a result the development status of its inherited items are also changed to “Modified - Under Development”.
4. Save the inherited item's changed properties.
5. Tick the Apply to descendants checkbox.
6. Click then Accept Development in the toolbar on the edit window.
The originating item’s Development Status changes to “Confirmed”, and the Development Status for all items inherited from the originating item are also updated to “Confirmed”.
7. Tick the Apply to Children and Apply to Descendants (and Descendants via Linked Objects) checkboxes.
As a result...
The Development Status of the originating item and all inherited items’ are changed to “Confirmed”.
Please note!
When an inherited item's changed properties are saved the checkbox Apply to descendants must be ticked.
The inherited item's Development Status changes from “Confirmed” to “Modified - Awaiting Confirmation”.
