Asset Placeholders in the Asset Tree

Purpose

An Asset Placeholder is a position in the Asset Tree that must be filled by an Asset with the same generic Asset Type.

Icon	Identifies a...	Inherited from...
	An Asset Placeholder	Asset Type Placeholder in the Asset Type Tree that is not linked to a specific Asset Type.

Business rules

An Asset Placeholder cannot be moved in the Asset Tree, its position in the tree is fixed.

Please note!

Asset Placeholders only appear in the Asset Tree.
The Inheritance Type on the Asset-Header tab indicates that the Asset Placeholder was inherited from the Asset Type Tree.

When is it Used?

An Asset Placeholder can be used as functional location for a rotable item, or to identify the specific Asset Type on which as Asset is based.
