Filled Asset Placeholders in the Asset Tree

Purpose

A Filled Asset Placeholder is a position in the Asset Tree that has been filled by an Asset.

	Filled Asset Placeholder	Asset Placeholder in the Asset Tree that is linked to a specific Asset Type.

Business rules

The Asset’s Asset Type must be the same as Asset Type specified for the Filled Asset Placeholder’s Linked Asset Type.
When an Asset is moved from a Filled Asset Placeholder, it retains its Code and Description in its new position in the tree.
If a rotable item is moved to an Asset Placeholder then it must be based on the same Asset Type as the Asset Placeholder, or a Sub Asset Type of the Asset Type specified as the Asset Placeholder’s Asset Type Placeholder .
Each Asset Placeholder to and from which items will be moved in the Asset Tree must be configured as an Asset Type Placeholder (that is not linked to a specific Asset Type) in the Asset Type Tree.
When an Asset is moved to an Asset Placeholder that is based on a different Asset Type than the Asset, then the Asset becomes a child of the Asset Placeholder.
Maintain this Asset (MSI) is ticked for the Filled Asset Placeholder if Maintain this Asset (MSI) is ticked for the rotable item.

Please note!

Filled Asset Placeholders only appear in the Asset Tree.
The Inheritance Type on the Asset-Header tab indicates that the Filled Asset Placeholder originated in the Asset Tree.
The Filled Asset Placeholder inherits these items from the Linked Asset Type:
Failure Analysis, Attributes, Documents, Notes
