Filled Component in the Asset Tree

Purpose

Identify the specific Asset Type used to configure a unique Filled Component for an Asset or Asset Component.

	Filled Component	The Asset Type that is specified as the Linked Asset Type, and all its sub items.

Business rules

The Asset Type specified as the Linked Asset Type must be the Asset Type specified as the Asset Type Placeholder or a Sub Asset Type of the Asset Type Placeholder.

Please note!

A Filled Component is not a rotable item.
The Inheritance Type on the Asset Component-Header tab indicates that the Filled Component originated in the Asset Tree.
A Filled Component (of an Asset or an Asset Component) is derived from the Asset Type model for the Asset Type that is specified as the Linked Asset Type.
The Filled Component inherits all the sub items in the Asset Type model for the Linked Asset Type.
A Filled Component's Code can be modified to reflect the physical Component.
A Filled Component inherits the following items from the Linked Asset Type:
Attributes, Documents, Notes
Asset Components and Asset Tasks.

When is it Used?

Create a Component and its sub items using information inherited or derived from the Asset Type model for the specified Asset Type, which reduces configuration time and enhances accuracy in the Asset Type Tree and Asset Tree when changes are rolled out via synchronisation.

- Examples -

In this example the “Gearbox” Component Placeholder and the “Motor” Component Placeholder were inherited as Component Placeholders in the Asset Tree.

The “Gearbox” became a Filled Component when the “STX Gearbox” Asset Type was specified as the Linked Asset Type. Its sub Components and Tasks were inherited in the Asset Tree when the “Gearbox” development was accepted and then synchronised with the “STX Gearbox” Asset Type on which it is based.
