In-Place Assets in the Asset Tree

Purpose

An In-Place Asset is the inherited child of an inherited Asset that is based on a specific Asset Type, which cannot be changed.

Business rules

An In-Place Asset that is based on an In-Place Asset Type’s Linked Asset Type is automatically added in the Asset Tree.
An In-Place Asset is inherited with Maintain this Asset (MSI) ticked.
The Linked Asset Type specified in the Placeholder details on the Asset - Details tab cannot be changed.

Please note!

In-Place Assets only appear in the Asset Tree.
The Inheritance Type on the Asset-Header tab indicates that the In-Place Asset was inherited from the Asset Type Tree.
The In-Place Asset's Code and Description must be changed to reflect the Asset.
The In-Place Asset inherits these items from the Linked Asset Type:
- Failure Analysis, Attributes, Documents, Notes
- Asset Components and Asset Tasks
Asset Type in the Asset edit window is the specific Asset Type selected in the Asset Type Tree.
Maintenance history of Asset Tasks and Failure Analysis is kept for the In-Place Asset and its Components.
