Link Suppressed Tasks to Tasks

Purpose

Select the Tasks that must be suppressed by the current Task.

Before you start

The Suppressed Task must be added to the Component, Asset Type or Asset before it is linked to another Task for the same Component, Asset Type or Asset.

How to… Link Suppressed Tasks to a Task

1. Click the Follow up and Suppressed Tasks button in the toolbar on the edit window.
The Follow up and Suppressed Tasks for Asset Task or Asset Type Task window opens.

2. Select the Suppressed tasks tab

3. Click +.
The Suppressed Tasks lookup window opens.

4. Select the Task that must be suppressed when the current Task is scheduled.

5. Save the record.

6. Repeat from step 2 for each additional suppressed Task.

Business rules

A Suppressed Task’s (Task) Interval Type must be Calendar, Event or Usage based.
A Task can only suppress another Task that is linked to the same Asset Type or Asset.
In the Asset Type Tree:
- All Tasks that are linked to In-place Asset Types, Linked Asset Types, Linked Component Placeholders and Components for the same Asset Type can be selected as Suppressed Tasks.
In the Asset Tree:
- All Tasks that are linked to Assets and Components for the same Asset can be selected as Suppressed Tasks.
- A Task that is linked to a Asset in a filled Asset Placeholder cannot be selected as a Suppressed Task.
Every occurrence of a Task is suppressed indefinitely if Num Cycles Suppressed is set to zero (0).
If Num Cycles Suppressed is set to zero (= 0) then the Suppression % is applied, and the default Suppression % is 50% (i.e. -50% to +50%).
If Num Cycles Suppressed is not zero (<> 0) then the suppression range is calculated and the Suppression % is not applied.

Please note!

Linked Suppressed Tasks are only available after the Task is saved.
All suppression is based on the current Asset Task’s Estimated Next Due Date.
Num Cycles Suppressed is a numeric field with decimal places so that fractional suppression cycles can be used.
Double-click on a Follow Up Task Code to open a Task edit window for the Follow Up Task.

Example

A Task 1011 “Tighten all electrical connections” is performed every 28 days, and another Task 1020 “Check all electrical connections” is performed every 7 days.

Task 1011 includes Task 1020 so Task 1020 “Check all electrical connections” is suppressed by Task 1011 “Tighten all electrical connections”.

Example

The following example illustrates the calculation that is used depending on the value of Num Cycles Suppressed on the Task - Suppressed Tasks Tab, and when the Asset Task is scheduled to be performed.
