Modify an Asset

Purpose

Edit or modify information about an Asset.

Before you start

Synchronise the Asset with the Asset Type from which it is derived. Refer to Development Functionality > Synchronise inherited Asset items with Asset Type items.
Accept or reject development changes inherited from the corresponding Asset Type.

How to… Modify an Asset's details

1. Open the Asset Tree window then expand the Asset Tree to the required level.

2. Double-click on the required Asset.
The Asset edit window opens.

3. Click the required tab and change the details.

4. Save the record.

5. Click then modify linked detail records for the Asset.

As a result…

An Asset's Development Status is “Confirmed”.
An inherited Asset’s Development Status is “MAC ”.
If an Option and its Option Value is deleted from the Asset then:
- the Option is removed from the lookup list of available Options for all items below the Asset in the Asset Tree, and
- Rules Last Evaluated On on the Asset - Header tab is cleared to trigger Rules evaluation when the Asset is synchronised with the Asset Type on which it is based.
- During synchronisation the Asset Type’s Rules are evaluated to determine which items in the Asset model are added to or removed from the Asset model in the Asset Tree.

Business rules

The Asset's Development Status must be “New - Under Development”, “Modified - Under Development” or “Confirmed”.
If the Asset's Development Status is “Confirmed” and a User changes a data field then the Asset's Development Status changes to “Modified - Under Development”.
The following fields may not be changed if the item is inherited.
- Assessments tab; Assessment Code, Assessment Description, Current Instance, Current Instance Rating, Originates on this Asset. [OK5R5]
- Products tab; Product Code, Product Description. [OK5R5]
- Quality Losses tab; Quality Loss Code, Quality Loss Description. [OK5R5]
- Speed Losses tab; Speed Loss Code, Speed Loss Description. [OK5R5]
- Attributes; Attribute, Any Value.
- Documents; Code, Description, Web Address.
The Notes and Sequence Number for an Option and its Option Value can be changed without clearing Rules Last Evaluated On on the Asset - Header tab.
An Option and its Option Value can be deleted from the Asset, in which case it is removed from the lookup list of Options for all items below the Asset in the Asset Tree.
