Business rules
- The following items cannot be moved (cut and paste) in the Asset Tree.
-
- An In-place Asset and its sub items.
- An Asset Placeholder and its sub items.
- An Asset and its child items can only be moved to an Asset Placeholder that is based on the same generic Asset Type.
- An Asset cannot be moved to one of its child items.
- An Asset that is moved from a non-virtual Site to a virtual Site retains its non-virtual Site.
- The new parent Asset's Parent Location and Parent Cost Centre can be inherited, or just the Parent Location, or just the Cost Centre.
- The movement of the Asset can be tracked, or the Asset can be moved without any tracking.
- A Work Order can be created or selected to move the Asset. As a result Asset Moved on the Work Order - Request tab is ticked.
Best Practice
- Track the movement of the Asset.
Please note!
- The Asset and all its sub items such as Components, Tasks and linked detail records are moved.
- If the Asset is moved to a Site with a different Site Currency then a warning message is displayed. The Purchase Amount on the Asset - Life Cycle tab and Downtime Cost per Hour on the Asset - Maintenance tab must be recaptured.
- Components and Tasks can be moved in the same way as Assets.
