Rules for deleting an item in the Asset Tree

Business rules

A user must have the appropriate User Rights to delete the item.
An original Asset can only be deleted using the “-“ button on the Asset edit window.
Only an original item without history is deleted.
An inherited item in the Asset Tree can only be deleted if the Asset Type on which it is based in the Asset Type Tree has been deleted and its deletion has been accepted.
An inherited item is marked as inactive.
Items with Development Status “Deleted - Confirmed” are never displayed in the tree.

Rules

These deletion rules apply to an item with the specified Inheritance Type and Development Status in the Asset Tree.

Inheritance Type	Development Status	Can delete?	As a result…
Original	“Confirmed”	Yes	The item is removed from the Asset Tree.
Inherited	“Confirmed”	No	An inherited item cannot be deleted in the Asset Tree.
Inherited	DAC	Yes	When the inherited item is Synchronised then the item’s Development Status automatically changes to “Deleted - Awaiting Confirmation” if the Development Status of its original item in the Asset Type Tree was changed to “Deleted - Confirmed” . Click then *Accept Development* to remove the item from the Asset Tree. Click then *Reject Development* to restore the item’s Development Status to “Confirmed”.
