Rules for modifying an item in the Asset Tree

An item in an Asset model is modified.

Business rules

No other items in the Asset Tree are affected.
An inherited item in the Asset Tree can only be modified if the Development Status of its ancestor item in the Asset Type Tree is “Confirmed”.
A user must have the appropriate Rights to modify the item.

Rules

These modification rules apply to an item with the specified Inheritance Type and Development Status in the Asset Tree.

Inheritance Type	Development Status	Can modify?	As a result…
Original	“Confirmed”	Yes	The item is modified and the item’s Development Status does not change.
Inherited	NAC	Yes	The item can be modified if the Development Status of its originating item in the Asset Type Tree is “Confirmed”.
Inherited	MAC	Yes	The item can be modified if the Development Status of its originating item in the Asset Type Tree is “Confirmed”.
Inherited	“Confirmed”	Yes	The item is modified.

Please note!

Don’t modify inherited items in the Asset Tree because the modifications will be lost the next time the Asset model item is synchronised with the Asset Type on which it is based, and the modifications will have to be repeated after each synchronisation.
