Clone Records

Purpose

Add an exact copy of an existing item, change its details and save it with a new code.

How to... Clone an item

1.   Open the edit window for the item to be cloned.

2.   Click >> Clone.
The new item is displayed in another edit window. The record has the same data as the original edit window except for the unique Code that is generated by the system and can be changed.

3.   Change the Code and Description as required.

4.   Change the record as required.

5.   Save the record.

As a result...

• The item is added to the lookup list.

Business rules

• Attributes, Documents and linked detail records are also cloned.
• The Code for the cloned record is automatically generated and can be changed.
• A cloned record is saved automatically before any data is changed. i.e. an exact copy of the cloned record with its linked detail records.
