Development Functionality

Purpose

Ensure proper control of the development of Asset Type models and Asset models by identifying and controlling the different stages of development and acceptance of the development.

Allow the user to determine whether only a specific item, or an item and its descendant and inherited items are updated when a new or modified item is saved.

An item’s development changes if its Development Status and/or data values change.

Use Development functionality to:

• Save development changes.
• Accept or reject development of an item.
• Change an item’s Development Status.
• View the Development Status and other details for selected Asset Types, Assets, Components, Tasks or linked detail records on browse windows, edit windows and detail edit windows.

Where to find

 Development functionality is available in the toolbar on a tree window, or edit window, or detail edit window.

Role Players

The Planning Engineer works with the Asset Type Tree to configure Asset Type models for individual Sites (virtual and non-virtual). Development and modifications to match the specific plant or factory must be accepted by the responsible person at different stages before the Asset Type model is available for use in the Asset Tree.

The Plant Engineer works with the Asset Tree, using Asset Type models to create the Asset models. The responsible person synchronises confirmed changes in the Asset Type Tree with the applicable Assets in the Asset Tree. The resultant proposed changes in the Asset Tree need to be accepted or rejected by the responsible person for that stage of the development.

Inheritance

Please remember that inheritance only occurs:

• in the Asset Type Tree as a result of the re-use of Asset Types
• in the Asset Tree through synchronised instances of the Asset Type.

Unless otherwise stated these items are referred to as inherited items.

Business rules

• Development functionality is available for all items in the Asset Type Tree or Asset Tree.
• In the Asset Tree
• • Development of an original item in the Asset Tree is automatically accepted and the item’s Development Status is “Confirmed”.
  • Proposed changes for an inherited item can only be accepted if the Development Status of the corresponding item in the Asset Type model for the Asset Type on which it is based is “Confirmed”.
  • Proposed changes for an inherited item can only be rejected if the Development Status of the corresponding item in the Asset Type model for the Asset Type on which it is based is “Confirmed”.
