Purpose
Planners use the Proposed Work Orders function for:
For long term planning create a Maintenance Plan for a year or 6 months.
Don’t create the Work Orders for the long-term plan because future circumstances that will affect the Work Orders can’t be anticipated. For example, don’t create Work Orders one year in advance. Rather create Work Orders for the short term (one-week or one month at a time) by sorting the list of Proposed Work Orders and selecting the required Proposed Work Orders. This provides flexibility to change the plan when circumstances change.
Once a week, for example every Monday:
Tasks are aligned to ensure that the Tasks for all Components of an Asset fall due at the same time so that the machine does not have to be stopped more than once in a short time period.
How to... Align Tasks in the Asset Tree
1. Highlight the Asset.
2. Use Batch Updates to change the Last Done Date or Last Scheduled Date on the Asset Task - Dates and Readings tab for each Task.
Start with a major service on each Asset and work backwards to align services at other intervals.
For each Asset:
1. Generate a list of Proposed Work Orders for the next year.
2. Identify when the Asset is due to be maintained or serviced.
3. Adjust other services or work to coincide with the major service.
4. Review each task.
5. Align other services or work to fall into the selected cycles.
For example, weekly or monthly Tasks should fall due on the same day of the week as the yearly or major service.
