Spares for a Work Order Task

A Spare is a Stock Item that is required for Work Order Tasks, and the Spares that are required to maintain an Asset are specified for the Asset Task.

When a Work Order is created for an Asset then each Spare that is required for a Work Order Task is captured or displayed on the Tasks for Work Order window’s Work Task Spares tab.

‘Stock Items” and “Coded Non Stock Items”

A Spare is classified as either a “Stock Item” or a “Coded Non Stock Item” in the Stock Items browse window.

A Spare is classified as a:

‘Stock Item” if it is kept in stock by the Warehouse and issued from the Warehouse when it is required for a Work Order. A “Stock Item” is identified by Stock Type = “S” on the Task Spares sub-tab of a Work Order’s Tasks tab.
‘Coded Non Stock Item” if it is ordered from a Supplier when it is required for a Work Order. A “Coded Non Stock Item” is identified by Stock Type = “D” on the Task Spares sub-tab of a Work Order’s Tasks tab.

Ad Hoc Spares

Ad Hoc Spares are “Stock Items” and “Coded Non Stock Items” that are required for a Work Order Task but are not specified as Spares for Tasks on the Asset Task Spares tab.

Feedback about Spares used to execute work

Feedback about the Spares and Ad Hoc Spares that were used to complete a Work Order Task is recorded when the Task is complete.

Details are captured on the Tasks for Work Order window - Work Task Spares tab for each “Stock Item” and “Coded Non Stock Item” that is specified as a Spare for the selected Task on the Tasks for Work Order window.
