Setting Column Properties

Purpose

Change the properties of each column that appears in a grid list.

How to… Set column properties

  1. Drag the thin blue strip on the right border of a grid list to the left, and the column properties frame opens:

  2. Click next to a column name to display the applicable column properties:

  3. Click  to select the Aggregate Function for the column. For example, the total Site count and total Code count is displayed for each group in the above window. Click next to a column name in the column properties frame to customise the column’s properties. The icon changes to .

  4. Change the text for the column names and/or select a background colour for the column.

  5. Drag the thin blue strip to the right to close the column properties frame.

Aggregate Functions

These Aggregate Functions can be set for a column, if applicable.

Count

Display the number of records in each group and in total.

For example, “Count: n” appears for each group (if applicable) and at the bottom of the grid list.

Average

Calculate the average value for a column with numeric values, for each group and in total.

Min

Display the minimum value for a column with numeric values, for each group and in total.

Max

Display the average value for a column with numeric values, for each group and in total.

Sum

Calculate and display the total value for each column group in the group header, and the total value for all the records at the bottom of the column.

These buttons are available in the column properties frame.

To…

Copy text to the clipboard.

For example, copy the Asset or Asset Type Code to the clipboard for use in a search or another application.

Select the required Aggregate Function.

Select a background colour for the column.

Customise the text for the column name, set a background colour and other properties for the column, and tick the required Aggregate Function.

The description in the Aggregate Function box can be changed.

To set a new header name, you must select the Override Header check box, and then enter the new name in the Header text field. Note that the Unique Name (original name) will remain visible for reference purposes.

Click in the Aggregate Functions box then click to delete the Aggregate Function.

Add the Aggregate Function to the chart.

The Aggregate Function is added to the Legend and when the user drills down to another grouping level, the Aggregate Functions are applied and displayed for applicable grouping.
