Link Placeholders

A placeholder defines a generic 'slot' in an asset model that can be filled with a specific rotable asset as required. Placeholders are added to asset type models in the Asset Type Tree, and then inherited by all assets of that type. Linking a placeholder enables you to select the specific asset that you want to use to 'fill' an 'empty' placeholder slot. The following types of placeholders can be inherited and linked in the Asset Tree:

NOTE: The steps for linking asset placeholders and component placeholders are exactly the same.

How to ... Link Placeholders

 

  1. Open the placeholder's edit window.

  2. Click the Set Link Functionality () button on the toolbar and select Link Asset Type.

  3. In the Asset Type Lookup window, select the required asset.

  4. Click the OK button to save and close the Asset Type Lookup window.
