On Key Search

On Key Search provides powerful, real-time searching functionality based on Elasticsearch. Using this search functionality, you can quickly and easily locate and navigate to specific data within On Key.

In order to make use of the On Key Search functionality, you need to do the following:

Create search index definitions for the business objects (eg assets, work orders, spares) you want to search
Ensure that the required users have been granted the ‘Search Index’ right
Construct and execute search queries

Security

Access to On Key Search is governed by two security mechanisms:

Site access — Users will only have access to search index definitions that have been defined for sites that they have access to.
Search Index right — Users must be granted the ‘Search Index’ right to be able to access the On Key Search screen. The Search menu will be hidden for users who do not have this right.

It is important to note that the results returned by a search will not be filtered according to the On Key user rights. This means that a search against a search index definition might return data relating to a business object that the user does not have access to. However, access to the relevant business object will still be governed by the user rights. Therefore, it is important that administrators apply the security mechanisms correctly to ensure that users have appropriate access.

Other important user rights include:

Rebuild Search Index — Allows users to rebuild new or modified search index definitions
Force Rebuild Search Index — Allows users to force a search index definition rebuild
