Move an Asset to fill an Asset Placeholder

Purpose

Move an Asset from another position in the Asset Tree to fill an Asset Placeholder.

Asset Placeholder

An Asset Placeholder may identify a position in the Asset Tree to and from which rotable Assets can be moved in order to replicate what has occurred in the facility, plant or factory.

Only Asset - Header details are required for an Asset Placeholder.

How to… Move an Asset to fill an Asset Placeholder in the Asset Tree 

1.   Highlight the rotable Asset in the Asset Tree.

2.   Click >> then Edit then Cut.

3.   Highlight the Asset Placeholder to which the rotable Asset must be moved.

4.   Click >> then Edit then Paste.
The Track Asset Movement window opens.

5.   Enter the required details then click OK.

6.   A progress message is displayed.

7.   Refresh the parent Asset for the Filled Asset Placeholder.

8.   Open the Filled Asset Placeholder edit window then tick Currently Running on the Asset - Maintenance tab if applicable.

As a result…

• The Asset Tree shows a Filled Asset Placeholder .
• The Filled Asset Placeholder is the Asset that was “moved” to the Asset Placeholder, with its child items and linked detail records.

Business rules

• An inherited Asset Placeholder must be filled by an Asset that is based on the same generic Asset Type or one of its Sub Asset Types.
• Maintain this Asset (MSI) is ticked for the Filled Asset Placeholder if Maintain this Asset (MSI) is ticked for the Asset that was “moved” to the Asset Placeholder.

Please note!                                                                                                                                   

• An Asset Placeholder is based on the specified Asset Type (for the Asset Type Placeholder from which it is inherited), and the Asset Placeholder must be filled by an Asset that is based on the same Asset Type or its Sub Asset Type.
• If an Asset Placeholder is filled with the incorrect Asset then move the Asset to another position in the Asset Tree.
• If an Asset Placeholder isn’t going to be used to move rotable items then either:
• • In the Asset Type Tree, configure a Linked Asset Type (based on a specific Sub Asset Type) instead of an Asset Type Placeholder in the Asset Type Tree so that the Linked Asset Type is inherited as an In-Place Asset,
    OR
  • In the Asset Tree, add the Asset that will fill the Asset Placeholder to the same parent Asset then move the Asset to the Asset Placeholder.
• A costing analysis can be done for the Asset Placeholder node.
