Add Components to an Asset model

Purpose

Add a Component to an Asset or Component in the Asset Tree.

Note: Components can be added to MSI and non-MSI assets.

How to… Add a Component to an Asset model

1.   Click the Asset or Component in the Asset Tree to which a Component must be added.

2.   Click then New Component in the toolbar on the Asset Tree window.
The Component edit window opens.

3.   Enter the required data in each of the applicable tabs.

4.   Save the record.

5.   Link the Failure Analysis details to the Asset Component.

As a result…

• A Component is added to the selected Asset or Component in the Asset Tree.
• The Component’s Development Status is “Confirmed”.
• The Component’s Inheritance Type is “Original”.

Please note!

• The Component is only added to the selected Asset or Asset Component.
• Possible Failure Analysis combinations can be configured for a Component.
• If the Sort Order parameter on the Tree Display Options window is set to “Sequence Number” then a Component’s Sequence Number determines its sequence on the same level and with the same parent in the Asset Tree. Use the Sequence Number to view the Components in a logical sequence.
