Add Tasks to an Asset model

Purpose

Add a Task to an Asset or Component in the Asset Tree.

Note: Tasks can be added to MSI and non-MSI assets.

Before you start

Configure the following items.
- Type of Work, Importance and Motion Type
- Task Classifications 1-8
- Trades, Sections and Staff
- Monitoring Point Types and Monitoring Points
- Spares and Special Resources
- Root Causes
- Calendar
Synchronise the Asset Task’s parent item with the corresponding item in the Asset Type Tree to inherit all confirmed changes.

How to… Add a Task to a Component in an Asset model

1. Open the Asset Tree window then expand the tree to the required level.

2. Click the Component to which an Asset Task must be linked.

3. Click New Task in the toolbar on the Asset Type Tree window.
The Task edit window opens.

5. Save the record.

As a result…

Business rules

An Asset Task can be added to a Asset or Component in the Asset Tree.
An Asset Task cannot be moved.
If a responsible Trade is not selected on the Asset Task - Details tab and a Labour record is added for or linked to an Asset Task then Trade defaults to the Trade that is specified for the Labour record.

Please note!

Assets in the Asset Tree inherit all the Components (with their linked detail records) and Tasks (with their linked detail records) from the Asset Type model on which they are based as a result of synchronisation.
If the Sort Order parameter on the Tree Display Options window is set to “Sequence Number” then an Asset Task’s Sequence Number determines its sequence on the same level and with the same parent in the Asset Tree. Use the Sequence Number to view the Asset Tasks in a logical sequence.
